    Criminal Summary Conviction
    Paralegals can provide legal advice and representation for all criminal summary offences, which are prosecuted in the Ontario Court of Justice. These are relatively minor charges, and include: Theft under $5,000, Harassment, Causing a disturbance, Committing an indecent act in public, Possession of a weapon in public.

    The Small Claims Court in Ontario is a branch of the Superior Court of Justice. It deals with civil disputes of monetary value of up to $25,000 (CAD).

    Highway Traffic Act charges such as speeding or traffic violations; Municipal by-law charges related to parking, excessive noise, animal control, or garbage disposal; and Charges laid under provincial legislation, such as the Environmental Protection Act, the Occupational Health and Safety Act, the Dog Owners’ Liability Act or the Trespass to Property Act.

    Commisionner of Oaths
    A Commissioner of Oaths is a person authorized to take your oath or solemn affirmation when you sign an affidavit or a statutory declaration. A Commissioner does not certify that the statements being made in the affidavit or statutory declaration are true, but only certifies that an oath or solemn affirmation has been administered properly.
